Rider is the first, and also the title of this first EP. Rider is a ghost story. The ghosts are mine, but I’m betting they are yours too. Rider talks about being haunted by the ghosts and scars that we carry around inside, those hard to shake off unwanted guests that rattle around our heads and hearts.
Get Up is an anthem explaining why I am doing this and how I reached this point, obsessed with music and song. Why would you even bother trying to make this your living? For me, It’s something I simply had to choose. There wasn't ever a second or third option to consider. I was compelled to this life.
Armalite is the nightmare I wake to, the one my children are born into. The hunger for safety, the threat of violence, the fear of being unarmed and armed. It seems more than ever that violence is our American birthright, yet each of us has the seeds of creation and destruction. Why do we choose one over the other at any given moment? I don’t have the answers, but I do need to talk about it.
Rolling Blackout Blues helps me put one personal ghost to sleep. Gene Taylor was one of the best blues piano players I have ever known, and I have known many. During the power outages in February 2021 in Texas, Gene was found deceased at home in his bed where he had been trying to stay warm. The power at his place had been out for six days. I carried this anger and sadness over his death around with me until one night singing songs with Silas Lowe, we found a way to sing it out.

I discovered my love for music when I was just a child. My parents would play old records in the house, and I would sing along and dance to the tunes. I started playing the guitar when I was 12, and I have been hooked ever since.
